US presence key to Syria balance of power: Kurdish commander

Beirut, Oct 19, 2019 (AFP) — A continued US military presence in Syria is essential to maintaining a balance of power and preventing Russian hegemony, the top Kurdish commander told AFP Saturday.
"We want there to be a role for America in Syria, not only Russia and others monopolising the scene," Mazloum Abdi said in a phone interview.
