UN envoy urges Turkey to allow Kurds to protect Kobane

GENEVA, Oct 10, 2014 (AFP) — UN envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Friday called on Turkey to allow Kurdish refugees to cross back into Syria to protect the city of Kobane, besieged by jihadists from the Islamic State group.
"We would like to appeal to the Turkish authorities in order to allow the flow of refugees... to enter the city to support a self-defence," he told reporters in Geneva.
