
Two main Iraqi Kurd parties won 57 percent of parliamentary vote

ARBIL, Iraq, July 29, 2009 (AFP) — Iraqi Kurdistan's two main political parties, which ran on a joint parliamentary list, won 57 percent of the vote in parliamentary elections at the weekend, official results showed on Wednesday.
A key opposition grouping called Change won 23 percent of legislative votes in Saturday's election, faring much better than expected, according to the results.
