The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) rebels were killed in fighting in Hakkari province near the border with Iran and Iraq and fighting was continuing, the provincial government said.
The PKK has been fighting for a separate state in southeast Turkey since 1984 and the conflict has left more than 37,000 dead. Turkey, the European Union and the United States consider the PKK a terrorist group.
