Turkish jets strike Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq: army

ANKARA, July 29, 2008 (AFP) — Turkish warplanes bombed a Kurdish rebel hideout in northern Iraq Tuesday, destroying the base and killing an unspecified number of militants, the military said.
The raid targeted a large cave in the Qandil mountains, along the Iraqi-Iranian border, used by the separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) as a base, and up to 40 militants taking refuge there, the statement said.
