ANKARA, Feb 25, 2008 (AFP) — The Turkish army said 41 Kurdish rebels and two Turkish soldiers were killed in fighting Monday, making the overall toll from its operations in northern Iraq since Thursday 153 rebels and 17 troops dead.

"Terrorists trying to flee the region under our troops' control suffered heavy losses under fire from close quarters" overnight, the general staff said in a statement posted on its website.
