Turkey urges US to 'immediately' withdraw from Manbij in Syria

Ankara, Jan 27, 2018 (AFP) — Turkey on Saturday urged the United States to "immediately withdraw" its personnel from Manbij in northern Syria, a city held by a Syrian Kurdish militia that Ankara is fighting in an offensive launched last week.

"It's necessary for them (US) to immediately withdraw from Manbij," Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened on Friday to expand the military operation against the People's Protection Units (YPG) in its Syrian enclave of Afrin to Manbij where the US has a military presence.
