Turkey bomb Kurdish rebel targets in Iraq: army

ANKARA, Dec 16, 2008 (AFP) — Turkish warplanes on Tuesday bombed Kurdish rebel hideouts in northern Iraq, the military said.

The air raid targeted Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) targets in the Qandil mountains, a major rebel stronghold, a statement on the army's website said.

"The planes comleted their mission successfully and returned safely to their bases," it said.
