Roj, Syria, Feb 16, 2026 (AFP) — Syrian Kurdish authorities on Monday released 34 Australians, relatives of jihadists from the Islamic State group, who had been held in the Roj camp, the camp director told AFP.

With the release of the 34 individuals, members of 11 families of jihadists, there are no longer any Australians in the custody of the Kurdish authorities.

An AFP photographer saw women, some fully veiled, and children carrying their luggage and leaving the camp.
