Damascus, Jan 20, 2026 (AFP) — Syria's army on Tuesday accused Kurdish forces of withdrawing from Al-Hol camp in the northeast, where thousands of relatives of Islamic State jihadists, including foreigners, are being held.

The Kurds denied the claim and reported clashes on the outskirts of the camp. Al-Hol is the largest such camp in Syria's Kurdish-controlled areas and houses 27,000 people, including 15,000 Syrians and around 6,300 foreign women and children from 42 nationalities.
