PKK founder Ocalan hails Kurdish militant group's decision to disband

Istanbul, May 13, 2025 (AFP) — Jailed PKK founder Abdullah Ocalan hailed the decision of his Kurdish militant group to disarm and disband, ending four decades of armed struggle against the Turkish state, in a message released Tuesday.
"I respectfully salute the decisions taken at the (PKK's) historic 12th congress," Ocalan said in a message transmitted by the pro-Kurdish DEM party, after the militant group heeded his call to end its insurgency.
