KIEV, Oct 21, 2007 (AFP) — Turkey has plans to make a cross-border incursion to attack Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq but "not urgently", Turkish Defence Minister Vecdi Gonul said Sunday.

"There are plans to cross border" but "not urgently", he told reporters after talks here with US Defence Secretary Robert Gates.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Sunday his government was ready to order a cross-border strike against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) bases in northern Iraq after 12 Turkish soldiers and 32 rebels died in clashes near the tense border with Iraq.
