ANKARA, May 08, 2013 (AFP) — Kurdish rebels on Wednesday began a much-anticipated withdrawal from Turkey into their stronghold in northern Iraq, in a major step towards ending a three-decade conflict that has left tens of thousands dead.
"We know that they have started moving," Selahattin Demirtas, a pro-Kurdish lawmaker actively involved in the fragile peace process, told AFP.
