Iraq to summon US charge d'affaires, Iran ambassador over strikes: statement

Baghdad, March 24, 2026 (AFP) — Iraq's foreign ministry will summon the United States charge d'affaires and the Iranian ambassador following two deadly strikes targeting former paramilitaries and Iraqi Kurdish fighters from the autonomous northern region, an official statement said Tuesday.
The ministry of foreign affairs will summon the representatives to "deliver formal notes of protest regarding the attacks", the Iraqi prime minister's office said in a statement following a meeting of the National Security Council.
