Germany hails 'important step' as PKK says disbanding

Berlin, May 12, 2025 (AFP) — Germany on Monday hailed the decision by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) to disband as an "important step" towards bringing an end to a decades-long "cycle of terror and violence".
In a post on X, the foreign ministry also urged "full implementation and a political process", after the PKK's announcement drew a line under its deadly four-decade insurgency against the Turkish state.
