Istanbul, May 12, 2025 (AFP) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hailed Monday the disbanding of the Kurdish militant PKK, calling it an "important decision for maintaining peace and fraternity" in the country.

"We are moving confidently towards our goal of a terror-free Turkey, overcoming obstacles, breaking prejudices and thwarting the traps of discord," Erdogan said following the Kurdistan Workers' Party's (PKK) decision to end more than four decades of armed struggle against the state.
