OTTAWA, Oct 24, 2007 (AFP) — Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier on Wednesday urged Iraqi authorities to stop Kurdish "terrorists" from using Iraqi land to launch attacks on neighboring Turkey.

"Canada condemns the terrorist attacks inflicted upon Turkey by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK)," following the killing of a dozen Turkish soldiers in PKK raids Sunday, Bernier said in a statement.

"We call upon Iraqi authorities to respond, and to take action to address Turkish concerns about the activities and presence of PKK terrorists in Iraq." Turkey has demanded the arrest and hand-over of PKK leaders.

Earlier Wednesday, Turkey reportedly launched air strikes on PKK positions within Iraq, killing dozens.
