ANKARA, May 13, 2006 (AFP) — A bomb explosion killed three children and badly wounded another in eastern Turkey Saturday, authorities said, accusing Kurdish rebels of responsibility.

Regional Governor Ali Gungor told Anatolia news agency the bomb went off in the garage of a local official at Ulalar, in Erzincan province, killing two boys aged six and 11 who were playing nearby. A third boy, aged 12, died of his injuries in hospital.

There was no claim of responsibility for the blast.

Kurdish separatist rebels and underground Maoist groups are both active in the area.
