
At least nine dead and several injured in Kurdish protests in Turkey: local media

ISTANBUL, Oct 07, 2014 (AFP) — At least nine people were killed on Tuesday in pro-Kurdish protests across Turkey against the government's refusal to intervene militarily against Islamic State jihadists attacking the Syrian town of Kobane, Turkish media reported.
Several people were also injured in the protests which took place in a number of towns, including those in the majority-Kurdish southeast of the country.
