12 Turkish soldiers killed in battle with Kurdish rebels

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey, July 14, 2011 (AFP) — Twelve Turkish soldiers were killed and six wounded Thursday in fierce clashes with Kurdish rebels in southeastern Turkey, local security sources said.
The fighting, which took place near the town of Silvan, was the worst in months and still ongoing, the sources said.
