20 Kurdish rebels, 9 troops die in clashes: Turkish sources

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey, Sept 3, 2012 (AFP) — About 20 Kurdish rebels and nine Turkish troops were killed in clashes in the country's southeast overnight, local sources said Monday.

"Nine security agents were killed and eight others wounded," said Vahdettin Ozkan, governor of Sirnak province, while other local sources said about 20 members of the rebel Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) had also died.
