One killed in suicide car bomb in north Iraq

- A suicide bomber blew up his explosives-laden car outside a luxury hotel in the northern Iraqi city of Sulaimaniyah on Monday, killing one person and wounding 13, Sulaimaniyah's governor said.

Dana Ahmed Majid said the bomber exploded his car outside the Sulaimaniyah Palace hotel at around 6:40 pm (1540 GMT). The attack left one person killed and 13 others wounded.

An AFP reporter at the site said nervous gun-toting Iraqi soldiers kept crowds away from the site.

Sulaimaniyah, one of the two largest cities in the normally peaceful autonomous Kurdish region of north Iraq, is located 330 kilometers (205 miles) from Baghdad.
